Pada Slackware untuk dapat menggunakan scroll mouse, kita harus melakukan beberapa peng-editan pada file xorg.conf yang berada di directory /etc/X11/. Untuk dapat mengeditnya kita harus menggunakan editor kesayangan, pada pembahasan ini saya menggunakan editor VI untuk mengedit file xorg.conf:

root@hendra:/# vim etc/X11/xorg.conf

maka akan tampil tampilan seperti berikut:

Setelah melakukan modifikasi pada file xorg.conf keluarlah pada editor, karena kita menggunakan editor VI maka kita harus menekan ESC lalu SHIFT+: lalu tulislah wq yang artinya write dan quit.

Jika kita melakukan proses Reboot pada Slackware, maka ketika starting Slackware terdapat tulisan di atas login user. Tulisannya yaitu:

Starting gpm: /usr/sbin/gpm -m /dev/mouse -t imps2 (Menandakan bahwa scroll mousenya sudah berfungsi)
